A hard hitting tale of a 14 year old boy in a brutal Christian correction institution, where everyone except the hero is devoid of pity and sympathy. Not for the romantic types. I felt the movie story line was heavily exaggerated. But found the movie well woven and interesting. A one sitting movie.

Well scripted, enjoyed the movie. It rides on the charisma of Eastwood. At this age he can make good films and act in them too Highly creditable.

A well woven and fast moving yarn of multi characters in a tightly knitted story,without being ambiguous or confusing, Set during the period just before the onset of WW1, the movie looks into the aspects of racial hatred, premarital birth, cabaret shows, greed, hatred, compassion and sacrifice. Exceptionally good direction and screenplay. Nominated for all major Oscars.

I found this movie quite wonderful. Good story, direction, screenplay. and suspense. Only drawback was the ending scene, which was preposterous, added probably to satisfy the Motion Picture Production Code of that time. The movie is available on YTS in 720p. For those who enjoy a good classic with a very different storyline. Short and interesting.

An excellent British comedy. Charming Victorian style dialogues. Price is delightful as a murderer with a baby face. Highly recommended.
