Being a bit ambivalent towards the music this band had produced thus far, but being inspired to hear more by the large and passionate following they had produced to this point, and the fact that the modern legend Dave Cobb was on board as producer, I decided to give “Made By These Moments,” a little sample a week after it’s release; oh my, we have something here.
Immediately after my sampling, I purchased the album on iTunes (yes, I’m a fossil that still buys music, and albums no less). What followed, and I say this without any hyperbole, quite literally blew me away. After somewhere around half a dozen spins now of the entire album, I can confidently say that this album is my pick for ‘24 album of the year.
The deep, and at times, raw lyrical content combined with earth shattering vocal performances, arrangements and audio manifestations that call back to the genesis of Southern Rock, this album is as important as it is fantastic. There are moments where I feel this release is a direct descendant of the legendary Molly Hatchet with its instrumental arrangements.
Bottom line: this album slaps…and it may be the very best Southern Rock album produced this millennia.
