I really like watching Superstore, but sometimes Amy's character bugs me. The show often makes her out to be this super fighter against all things unfair, like sexism and racism. It's cool that they're talking about these big problems, but sometimes it feels a bit too much and makes Amy seem less real.
For example, the show often shows Amy being super touchy when people who don't usually speak Spanish try to. This doesn't really match up with most Latinx folks I know, who are usually pretty happy when others try to connect with their culture.
Also, Amy is always the first one to call out when something is sexist. It's really important to point out sexism, but the show sometimes makes these chats feel too big and fake. It's almost like Amy is programmed to react this way, instead of it coming from her heart.
Despite these issues, I still love watching Superstore. I just wish they'd make Amy and her reactions a bit more real. If they did, I think it would make the show even better. I'm excited to see how they might change Amy's character in future episodes.
