As many other films in the last decade, the film creators are mainly focused on obeying strict PC rules (diverse ethnicity and gender etc.) The plot is completely different than the books, and every chance to turn a character from a complex, interesting personality into a boring cliche was taken. I gave up watching in the middle, it just felt like a big waste of time. Highly recommend to skip that one
