This movie is truly a work of art, a wonderful representation of many things, history, familial issues, distrust caused by religion, like i could go on and on. As a history buff, specifically on the topic of historical fashion, this movie is truly one of the best representations of the 16th century out there. Iโve seen people complaining about the structure of the film, saying itโs one useless clip after another, but all clips have symbolism, and they all build up perfectly to the end, no plot holes or other issues where things donโt line up or remain unexplained. The scenes where is one clip of something that seems โrandomโ, are truly to just build suspense and unease. A lot of reviews on here complain about the dynamic of the family, saying they are awful to each other constantly. I beg to differ. This family is awful to each other, but not just because they can, because they are under a high stress situation where theyโre family is quite literally being killed off one by one. This movie honestly isnโt supposed to be scary, and the closed minded idea that all horror must be scary is bogus, because horror can be off putting, strange, weird, or disturbing. Horror should be horrific, not specifically scary. This movie will forever be one of the top ones on my list, 10/10 would totally recommend to anyone and everyone.
