Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme is deep, cynical, analytical and bitter. The crimes are gruesome down to the last detail. The path to a solution is technical, detailed, forensically accurate, and evidence based. Disappointingly, the television series pilot had none of this. The crimes were brushed over, Rhyme was more teddy than grizzly, and the whole thing was rushed and hard to follow in it's simplicity. True Deaver fans will be very disappointed.
