I've never given my reviews for movies before, whether I liked them or not, as I usually think of them as just movies. But this time, I couldn't hold back because the facts have been twisted, and it feels like a mockery of our religion and mythology. Honestly, nothing has offended me as much as this movie.
I rate this movie with only one star, and if there was an option for a negative rating, I would choose that. The movie is disgusting, distorting the facts as if the writer and director never heard of Ramayana, let alone read it. They have brutally killed the essence and serenity of our epic. This movie should be banned, and I am surprised that the censor board allowed it.
If today's children watch this movie, what will they learn about our Ramayana and our religion? It's a shame. In the Ramayana, Hrinyakashyap had the boon that nothing could kill him, neither on earth nor in the sky, neither during the day nor at night. But they showed this for Ravana? Even my children were asking me, "Mommy, wasn't this in the story of Prahalad?" In reality, Ravana had a bag of nectar (Amrit ki thaili) in his belly button, and only when someone burst it, he could be killed. Although they showed this vaguely, only those who know about it would understand.
Hanumanji brought the entire Dronagiri Parvat mountain with Sanjeevni booti because he couldn't recognize it. But what they have shown is like saying, "Let me take it, today it's needed for Lakshman, tomorrow someone else will need it." What nonsense!
We worship Lord Rama and Sita, but they were shown so glamorous, like movie stars, with Sita's pallu flowing in the air and romantic scenes. Sita ji was abducted, and no one saw it except Jatayu. But here, they show it happening right in front of Lord Rama and Lakshmana ji, and they just couldn't do anything. In the first scene, they showed Ram ji performing heroic stunts by killing bats. What rubbish!
Ram ji went to Shabri's place, but in the movie, they showed it the other way around. Moreover, the whole scene looked like a school's annual day function.
Lanka was known as Sone ki Lanka (the Golden Lanka), but what they showed was a Koyle ki Lanka (the Coal Lanka). It became dark after Hanuman ji burnt it, but in the movie, it was already dark from the beginning.
None of us have ever heard about Vibishan's wife, but not only was she there, but she was also shown adjusting her sari without any reason.
Hanuman ji landed straight in Ashok Vatika, right in front of Sita ji, as if he had a GPS. In reality, he first met Vibishan ji and then was guided towards Ashok Vatika.
These are just a few instances, and there are many more in the movie. For example, Ram ji fighting with bats in the very first scene, and that too for such a long time. I can't help but wonder if this is how it was written in Ramayana.
The dialogues are so cheap that I still can't believe they were written by one of my favorite writers, Manoj Muntashir. This man is highly respected and has excellent command over Hindi, English, and Awadhi languages. I love his videos on YouTube, but I don't know what happened to him. I'm sure he is capable of doing a much better job.
Anyone who knows even a little about Ram
ayana will not accept this filmi drama, no matter how many VFX effects are used.
Please, DO NOT WATCH IT! At least not in the theater. But if you want to see the stupidity and then write a review, you can watch it on TV. But please, do not show it to your kids as it completely misrepresents the facts. And don't show it to your elders either, as they will be really annoyed.
Jai Shri Ram! 🙏
