When you think of Public Domain horror movies you think of Mickey Mouse (Steamboat Willie), The Grinch in The Mean One, and plenty of others, but this movie is one I definitely recommend for anyone wanting to see a good movie.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 released in 2024 by Jagged Edge Productions. Directed by Rhys Franke Waterfield, written by Matt Leslie (Summer of '84) and of course produced by and starring Scott Chambers in the lead role is really amazing.
The sequel to a film that many people deemed it as the worst movie ever really stepped things up. The plot is really good with having the first Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey movie be an "in universe" movie based on what Christopher Robin said about the Abominations.
I remember watching this movie on YouTube during a drive I did with my family heading to Colorado (right before the movie was taken down) and I loved it. Even though I have seen the first movie a couple of times, this movie was able to clear things up by the end, with Winnie revealing to be Billy Robin, Christopher Robins twin brother who was kidnapped.
The characters are well written, the dialouge is well done, the cinematography is amazing, and for a low budget movie, this sequel definitely made fans happy, with all of the references to future movies in the TCU (Twisted Childhood Universe) like Bambi, Peter Pan, and the big crossover coming out soon is very done.
Now the Crossbreeds, the designs for all of them are neat. The makeup designs for all of them are amazing, instead of them wearing the cheap rubber masks from the first movie. With Owl, Tigger, Piglet, and Winnie getting redesigns looking more human-hybrids than they are supposed to be from what our imaginations have thought about them are great. The deaths are really great, each one getting more amazing each time you see them are amazing.
The final scene for the movie where Winnie says "Oh bother" before getting his head axed in and falling into the same grave he came out of, great touch. Owl has some lines where he says "We'll all be back, for you Christopher Robin" is a good line to finish up a amazing film, and I kind of wish that Piglet would have had more screen time, but there maybe a chance we would see him again in another installment. Plus the musical score by Andrew Scott Bell is incredible and he really loves his job as a composer.
In the end, I would rank this movie a 20/20
