This album is easily the worst album Eminem has ever put together. Usually when going into a new Eminem project many people will tell you that its a 0 and the worst thing ever off the bat. I'll admit I'm not the largest fan of his newer albums but each of them has still had some interesting songs or themes about them. In fact I really like Revival as an overall album and it showcases Eminem does have the talent for transitioning out of his shady shock value personality of his early efforts. Unfortunately Revival is not only not that but it was worse then anything I had anticipated. The main problem with this album is it is the most annoying album of the decade Period. If it isn't the garbage production, or the wierd start stop non-flow he does on every single track, or the plethora of guest performances that drown out Eminem to the point where it seems he is just a blip on his own songs, OR Eminem's bars that are the worst he has ever dropped, it's also the fact that he lazily samples rock songs to the point where the entire album just sounds like a giant demo (I mean Joan Jets I love Rock and Roll... "your booty is heavy duty like diarrhea" Jesus Christ... ) and not one lands. Not One!.... But if all of that isn't bad enough... The worst aspect of this album is the fact that it is constantly shoving rehashed messages and political tracks down everyones throat. It's desperate, uncreative, and preachy. Not only does every one of these songs feel like skeleton versions of previous more creative tracks (untouchable<white America; Like Home<Mosh Bad Husband<when I'm gone) but there is 0 creativity behind any of them. Some of which loose all of their messaging before they start because the album itself has no flow and it's generally directionless ... (I mean the anti NRA mental health song is sandwiched between a a song where Eminem plays a serial killer and a party song about getting laid) As a side note, you know you messed up when you can't even get Donald Trump to respond to your comments as he seems to take the bait on everyone else's. Hollywood Undead has always been one of my favorite bands because every song sounds different, the production quality has always been very high level, and as a group were each member presents and different theme or style they can pull off some great metalcore songs, party rock anthems, and slower more melodic tracks. While New Empire displays some heavy hitters such as the straight bangers Time Bomb, Empire, and Heart of a Champion which feature some of Danny's best choruses and some more heavy hitting vocal performances from both Charlie Scene and Johnny 3 tears. Nightmare is also a great rap song that combines some experimental production and heavy hitting lyrics and Eminem style flows that we have come to expect from Charlie Scene and Johnny 3 Tears. much of this album seems bland to me and I think its the song topics that sink some of the album for me. How many times have we heard songs about "second chances" and getting back up after being knocked down. On top of that for the first time ever some of the versus in New Empire are forgettable as well. I've always loved HU because of their memorable lyrics and quotable lines and they still do shine at times here but at other times some of the members let me down especially J-Dog and Funny Man where it seems like there is just nothing much else to say and they do feel held back at times. I hope they come through with Vol 2 and I think they can pull it off but they should really stick to their roots of heavy hitting lyrics and all out song topics that really force out the emotion the band has.
