Dull and predictable. Brie Larson disappoints with a lackluster performance; the role calls for charisma, but Larson simply can't produce.
The writing felt shallow and manipulative. Every moment was telegraphed; a good movie has surprises, but Captain Marvel has very few. The few memorable moments were supplied by Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson (although he got nowhere near enough screen time) and Samuel L. Jackson as, well, I'm tempted to say himself - but actually Nick Fury.
Both Gregg and Jackson are CGIed throughout, of course, to "youthen" them - but the CGI doesn't quite work. Something about their upper heads seems strangely static.
And the character Captain Marvel comes off simultaneously as a Mary Sue and as fanservice for women. This should NOT be the face of the new Avengers.
