Samurai Maiden is an amazing game to play. There's a good story, combat, and even romance. It's levels are 5-10 minutes of combat, which makes for a quick break after an hour of work. Though, I do have some issues with the dialogue.
There aren't any cutscenes (unless you count the trailer after the first chapter and a quick fighting scene), only textboxes with the characters above them. This has been done many a time before, personally degrading the quality. I had hoped for at least a few animated scenes with more expression than there actually is. Plus, the dialogue takes up about 70% of the game. As I stated previously, the combat is about 5-10 minutes long, depending on how far you are in the game. The dialogue, however, seems to take an eternity with how much unnecessary lore and character interaction there it. Of course, you can skip it, but then you pretty much miss out on what you need to do.
And yet, I thoroughly enjoy playing this game. I laugh almost every time i get to the dialogue. Granted, I am annoyed with how long it takes, but the movements of the characters are so sudden and abrupt to the point where they don't really match the dialogue, they make me erupt in laughter. And, not only this, but I cannot wait to get to the point where Hagane (purple haired lady) becomes my girlfriend.
Overall, this is a great game. The actual gameplay of it is fun, the expressions (personally) are hilarious, and the romance leaves me wanting more. Yes, the dialogue is a tedious thing to get through, and the pricing is pretty steep ($67 for the pre-order of the deluxe edition), but if you give the game a chance, you may just enjoy it as much as I do.
