I usually never write movie reviews, this is my first one. And this movie deserves it.
From the start it sets the tempo for a typical Hindi cinema neo noir crime thriller with brilliant cabaret/jazzy music it was known for in the 70’s. Huma Qureshi deserves her due credit for playing the negative female dark antagonist so brilliantly against the 3 male characters woven into the story right from start. The screenplay of the movie is the hero that keeps us invested in the first half completely.
While unravelling the perfect who dunnit perfect crime the movie is slightly clunky in the second half but that can be ignored for the otherwise impressive acting prowess displayed by Rajkumar Rao, Sikandar Kher and Radhika Apte.
Achint the music director deserves praise for his brilliant score during the movie that keeps that bated breathing Monica title song so hooked on eveytime tension builds on the screen.
This is the movie Bollywood can pull off when creative directors like Vasant Bala unleash their artistic liberties to maximum potential.
