No one is a villain in Terzi, but Dimitri is in the first season. He looks like Robbie Rotten from Lazytown. Cagaytay Ulusoy looks like the Turkish version of Chris Pratt.
Everyone in the series suffers from trauma. Peyami grew up embarrassed and in shame for having a dad who is suffering from meningitis. Dmitri grew up with lack of paternal love and guidance from Ari which resulted in being a violent man-child with anger issues. Esvet grew up an orphan who had to deal with her half brother when she was younger, and when she is engaged to Dmitri, she had to endure the abuse from him.
The same treasure chest Esvet was locked in in the first episode. We found out Ari punished Young Dmitri by locking him there too. Dmitri destroying the treasure chest and burning it infront of Ari symbolises his freedom.
At the end of Season I, Peyami is going through his depression state from the injuries and Esvet's wedding. Drinking, clubbing, being reckless, letting yourself go, ignoring the people around who love you, throwing fits, blaming others for your misfortunes, and shutting yourself from the world.
These are coping mechanisms for some going through rough times in life or suffering from PTSD which was relatable to me.
Season II is my favourite from the bunch, and it was Dimitri's time to shine. Peyami hid Mustafa from most of the people, and when Dmitri found out, he envies the relationship Peyami has with his father. Despite Mustafa's condition, he continues to be a good father to Peyami. This is something Dimitri will never have with Ari, and from there, Peyami started to value the time and moments he spends with Mustafa.
Let us take advantage of the things we have right now because at the end, they will only become memories and you will have regrets
They included a lot of Turkish traditions in this season such as the Sufi Whirling dance which is beautiful to witness as a non-Turkish viewer. I read it had to do with the rebirth of someone which Peyami was able to redeem himself at the end of Season II and was able to get back on track.
About Cemre, she knows she is just a friends-and-benefits to Peyami. Nothing more to say.
She is wild and carefree. Remember Cemre wore something revealing to Dimitri's wedding and she just does not care what people think? I love that attitude. Her short appearance in the second season was fun and spicy.
In the third season, Dimitri accidentally killed Ari out of anger and rage by pushing him leading to blood hemorrhage. It resonates with the painting of Ivan the Terrible and his Son Ivan, but in this case, it was the other way around.
Hearing the truth is painful. Imagine the person whom you trusted is lying behind your back. Like what they say, those who betray you are the closest to you.
Some people cannot overcome the trauma they had gone through from childhood like Dimitri. He brought it until adulthood which destroyed him and his perception of the world and people
The climax at the end of season three sends me chills. Dmitri locking both Esvet and Dmitri up expecting they'd all die together, but Dmitri chose to commit suicide alone out of shame, sadness, and anger. But he accepted it. All the people he loves in his life betrayed him.
Six months later in the series, we discover Dmitri survives from the explosion, and now he looks like Prince Zuko avenging his honour.
Young Dimitri and Peyami's friendship reminds me of Luca Paguro and Alberto Scorfano's frienship very well.
I am looking forward to Season IV.
