-Watched it on a plane and while I like the actors the movie just was too much preposterous b s to suspend your disbelief for. Each magic trick is revealed as it goes along and a twist at the end but you can’t or don’t get the chance to invest anything in any if the characters and the whole doesn't add up given the impossibility of it ever happening. Mindless hokum And they made a sequel god help us. Not worth investing in unless you have to ie on a plane and the other choices are even more dire. The Arnie / Sly Stallone film I also watched was even worse. At least you can drift off to sleep on a plane and you won’t have missed much!

Too clever for its own good. Narrative was patchy and hard to follow. The mixed race casting didn't work for me as it wasn't remotely credible and was distracting. The schoolboys all looked like they were 30+. Characters were paper cut outs. A few funny sketches but many fell flat and I think I was the only one in the theatre who laughed at those. I loved 'Stalin' by Iannucci but this didn't work for me. Give me a David Lean adaptation any day. Disappointing.
