When I first began the movie, about 30 minutes in I was still trying to figure out what kind of movie I was watching. Was this a viral outbreak movie? A zombie flick? A monster or paranormal film? The beginning of the film pulls you in too many different directions. Then when you get into the thick of things, you have too many important questions that go unanswered. Why are the parents trying to perform brain surgery on their daughter to fix her "telekinetic possession" when neither of them are brain surgeons? How were they able to leave their jobs in the military during a worldwide emergency? Why are some of the jump scares so disingenuous? That last question is what gets me the most. It seems like what they were going for is to confuse you and then have the light bulb come on at the end, where all of the scares and tension make sense. They don't.
Don't watch this movie unless you like to be left wanting, and irritated at the plot.
