What was the point of killing a bunch of kids? Why was there such a need for androids? Why was the hero a drunk doctor who has sex with all the women he knows and doesn't appear to make his children much of a priority? I don't find any of these elements offensive individually; but collectively they don't answers the questions, "Why was this film made? Am I supposed to feel something- fear, anger, joy? Am I supposed to think something - contemplate the role of children in horror, contemplate what constitutes a horror film, what are the many wonders of Irish folklore?" I got nothing and neither does this movie.
