Breathtaking. Joaquin Phoenix's Joker is simply amazing. The tone of the movie is harsh and it is sometimes even difficult to watch and keep your eyes open. We go from caring and vouching for the Joker, seeing him being completely beaten by a society that doesn't care about him and an entourage that bullies and abuses him. But then, he dives deep into his narcissistic, vengeful and violent urges and we lose him. We lose him way too far for him to be récupérable. We feel pain, sadness, anger and disgust as we watch right before our eyes a somewhat pityful man become a monster. This is not an ode to the far-right. I, in fact, don't even understand how some critics came to that conclusion. Feels like some people went in there with already outraged lenses on and made up their mind beforehand.

I love it. One, it's aesthetically pleasing. Two, the story is actually very engaging. You want to survive to know what happens next. The mechanics are not as complex as other games, in the sense that, the learning curve is less intimidating than other games in this genre. The difficulty is quite challenging, but not frustrating. There's definitely a "This War of Mine" vibe that you will feel in this game (the desperation vs hope), which I totally dig.
