I have been a fan since it started. The only minor humble critique I have is noticing judges always giving someone who has the God-given gift of singing with a quartet flow less than good enough to be Sunday best. When I hear people like Pastor Tim Rodgers and the late Shawn Jones, I don't know how judges will clap to the quartet swag but really don't see it as a style for a Sunday Best winner. If you grew up appreciating Gospel then I remember my grandmother playing quartet around the house before we had a choir to acquire. Before their was a Marvin Sapp or a Richard Smallwood in whom both men I love to hear. But Sunday Best sometimes is Canton Spiritual sound as well. The young man eliminated tonight to me was again penalized for having that Quartet swag. And please why are judges talking about "...I felt your praise..." Sometimes its in the quiet, calm, humble and meek soul who has learned how to "stand still " without a shout or noticeable expression who just let go and let God. The covid-quartine has taught us all that..I don't need to see the artist on stage but see now if my soul recalls what the artist said is greater than how they look. I haven't seen Richard Smallwood in concert but when I hear "Total Praise" I feel the power of that song. I haven't seen Tamela Mann in concert but when I hear "...change me oh Lord..." My God! So needing to feel their praise is secondary but feeling the ongoing long lasting POWER of the song....is the true essence of Sunday Best. So Kirk Franklin please bring Tim Rodgers and the fellas on as well. Dont forget Quartet Music.....Amen. God bless.
