Great actors (apart from Rose Leslie who spends most of the grimacing and glaring at people) and, at times, a gripping, exciting story. But also a lot of illogicalities in the plot and some stilted, silly dialogue. I enjoyed it but had to suspend disbelief. enjoyed it.

I love the Canadian version of Rex. Just as charming and clever as the original Austrian series (Inspector Rex) and its first Rex spin off set in Italy. (Both were screened on SBS On Demand in Australia.)

The book was terrific: gripping and complex with amazing twists and turns. The series omitted a lot of this, particularly the police investigation into the traffic accident. And we learnt the truth about Mike/Toby far too early on. I thought both lead actors, especially Fi, were miscast. I might have enjoyed the series more if I hadn't read Candlish's novel first.
