Excellent french film about Young love and what happens when things go wrong

Ive loved this movie since the 1st time I saw it at a private screening in Philadelphia. Armin Mueller Stahl, Aidan Quinn, Joan Plowright lead a fantastic cast in Barry Levinson's Avalon"., part of his Baltimore Trilogy. Touching..funny..emotional... Many of the traditions addressed were part of my growing up. Unfortunately, many of these traditions are no longer followed,and we are poorer for it as a civilization.

This very non-descript movie with a big heart ,draws you in. Jim Parsons and Ben Aldridge are quite good and very believeable as a gay couple traveling the rocky road of coupledom. Funny,sad introspective. Sally Fields in a supporting role. Sally is truly a treasure.

A really lovely thought provoking little film by Sam Mendez,anchored by Olivia Coleman and Michael Ward,ably supported by Toby Jones and supporting cast. Although I did find bits of Colin Firth's performance or his characters traits a big cringey. I dont ,however, understand why many of the reviews weren't very good. As I said a really lovely thought provoking little film.

Clearly highly rated by many others. In my opinion it hasnt aged well. Interesting story line which twists and turns that are overlong and drawn out. The music which is supposef to highten the suspense ,is intrusive and anoying. The supporting cast chew scenery like mad. It is interesting to watch from a historical perspective. I.e gritty old philly vs the philly of today. A better conspiracy thriller,imho is Coppola's The Conversation"
