Llively and entertaining illustrations capture Zebra and Monkey being the life and soul of the party and the party falling flat after they are thrown out, setting the stage for the central question: "Why should the party be only for animals with horns anyway". This is a wonderful book to sow the seeds of awareness of inclusion and discrimination.

This is a deceptively simple book with so many layers - the relationship between the assertive little girl and her friend, her playful relationship with her nurturing father and the twist as the end. Beautifully paced and illustrated, it is a wonderful and affirming book for little girls and boys alike.

It takes chutzpah to write a memoir at a young age and even more to boldly entitle it "To Quote Myself". Since the author is a friend of my son, I felt some maternal trepidation when I opened the book, hoping that his confidence is justified. I am glad to say it is my concerns that were unjustified. To Quote Myself is a highly readable memoir written with the assurance of a seasoned writer. Highly recommended for anyone interested in memoir and contemporary South African literature.
