(spoiler alter) Terrible film adaptation. I suggest not watching if you've read the book. I'm not trying to be one of those people, but so much detail was left out that felt pertinent to the story line. I'm talking details that were subtle but necessary that tied into the mystery and thrill. You know, like when you read something and connect it back from chapters ago; where it builds up more ideas of what's happening but you're still unsure.
I was actually excited after reading the book and finding out there was a movie. It was pretty boring and infuriating to watch. The flashbacks were not in place with the story line. Even the setting of scenes felt all wrong. I felt like Diane played a larger role and was downplayed for whatever reason (sake of runtime?). I don't think I even watched the last 20 minutes of the film tbh. After they said that Diondra confessed and Ben was being released, I COMPLETELY lost interest.
For being a mystery/thriller, there wasn't much of either in the film. I'm just disappointed; it could have been done better. I think if someone was able to produce a mini series with a better cast, that actually fit the characters, it would be amazing.
