This show leaves out so much and ignores the vital contributions of too many folks.
Yes, otherwise the show would be too long! But to pass so lightly over the work of James Clerk Maxwell and Oliver Heaviside was a mistake.
Maxwell took Faraday's 'field' idea and reduced it to his theory - a triumph of analysis.
Heaviside explained why the first transatlantic telegraph cable smeared the signals and how to improve that. Not only a tour-de-force of analysis but a vital contribution to practical improvements. (And he reformulated Maxwell's equations into the modern accepted form, co-inventing Vector Analysis to do so.)
Next time(!) get editors with MUCH better appreciation of the context.
BTW David Hughes also nearly 'discovered' Maxwell's waves before Hertz.
(...and many other such details ...by so many )
BTW, the history of Oliver Heaviside would make for a great TV documentary. OH v William Henry Preece is 'David v Goliath'!
