Content is amazing Gameplay(online) is terrible I been playing online since ‘17 This has to be the worst online experience I’ve had since I started playing MLB The Show Diamond Dynasty. If you are able to make it online past the shaky servers, you’ll be lucky to get in a full 9 inning game as there’s still a really high chance of getting locked into a freeze off. That aside, the negatives of the game far outweigh the positives. The pitching made a huge leap forward from previous years with the implementation of pinpoint pitching. User input is extremely important in online competitive play and this feature allows for gamers to gain more control of a very important aspect of the game of baseball. As good as the pitching has been, the acceleration of pitch speeds is extremely overpowered at the HOF and Legend difficulties, specifically the Legend difficulty, which leaves the casual gamer in the dust and feeling hopeless if reaching a certain level of online play. Fielding is left too much to animations and there needs to be some user control added to future installments. Horrendous animations take over the game and leave a game scratching his head and possibly searching for a replacement controller. A “USER CATCH” feature would be well received and a welcome addition to the game. This would allow for fielder ratings and user input to actually matter instead of relying solely on preset animations. Now finally, the worst aspect of online gameplay… HITTING… The whole hitting engine needs to be revamped. The reward system for User input makes little to no sense at times. And these times happen way too frequently. I can assume that the volume of broken controllers has skyrocketed this year as compared to past installments. Foul ball frequency , situations rewarding terrible PCI placement and timing(early/late and off the ball bleeders and homeruns), bunting being overpowered (Jim Thome drag bunting with 2 strikes in the 9th inning with a ball 2 feet off the plate to win the game). All of these things are extremely bad in the most vital part of a baseball game. I hope these issues are addressed and this game can return from the depths and become as great as it potentially could be. But as of now, this game is really bad. To end on a positive note, I really love the new addition of the stadium creator as I’ve given hours to creating artful masterpieces. I’ve been wishing for years for this feature and I’m amazed at how fun it has been to create my personal stadiums. And all of the online content is truly 2nd to none when it comes to sports games. the free and grindable content puts players in the forefront and is truly appreciated as a gamer. I just wish the gameplay matched. This is a visually beautiful game and I’m excited for what the future has in store.
