Meh, had some very engaging moments and some pretty visuals. But the flow and direction of the whole thing felt ham-fisted and made little sense not only in context with the Star Wars universe, but at times even with itself. The crime didn't feel like a crime, but rather a huge mess up. The idea of the Jedi intruding on private citizens felt wrong.
The acting was kind of mediocre in parts, the dialogue corny, but that's kind of typical of a SW production. But on this show it was intrusive and kind of distracted from what was going on. The characters of Mei and Osha did not leave an impression on me, and honestly I can't remember who is who and who did what. Master Sol was cool, I liked his casting and his character. The Stranger made a better villain than a hapless sidekick, and was it fun to watch him pull his creepy Sith bit. I was sad to see some of the supporting Jedi cut down, but the main four perpetrators of the 'crime' did not make me care.
Politics aside, 'wokeness' aside, the Acolyte was just poorly handled from a story-telling standpoint. It was a murder mystery that really wasn't. It was an adventure story that really wasn't. It was a coming of age story that really wasn't. It was a revenge story that really wasn't. Just flashy, very pretty, mess. Sorry.
edit: I would just like to add a rather poignant observation. My kids won't watch Star Wars shows with me anymore. Why? 'I want to watch anime instead.' Lesson to be learned from Andor? Hmm? You can't keep writing for kids if the kids are not your audience.
