5 Star Reviews are obviously Fake. (Spoiler Free) Animation 10/10 Let’s get the one good thing out first- the animation. The visuals are incredible, especially the water. The different settings are all gorgeous. This is clearly where the money was spent. Story 0/10 Atrocious. I mean wow. I said no spoilers but there is nothing to spoil, despite some terrible writing decisions the story still manages to be entirely flat and predictable. There is a very poorly done message about trust which seems like it was written by a scam artist trying to convince the audience to give them another chance while robbing them of their time. Also very odd pacing, it does not work. Characters 0/10 Very bland and one dimensional played out stereotypes. The dragon in particular was incredibly annoying and unlikeable. It did not help that she was played by Awkwafina, who has the most incredibly painfully irritating voice I have ever heard. There was zero character building and the pacing made it feel like any growth was completely insincere. Soundtrack 3/10 I barely noticed it so it must have fit the scenes somewhat. Nothing memorable. It could have been worse if they tried making it a musical. Voice Acting 0/10 Honestly most were fine but Awkwafina is so maddeningly bad she drags everyone else down with her. Overall 1/10 Credit where credit is due, the visuals are stunning. If you’re going to watch this, mute it and put on some music. {Edit - I forgot to add how ridiculous the dragon design is… a pink pony dog… 0/10}

Like one of Dracula’s victims, this movie is entirely devoid of life. The story is based upon a small excerpt from the book but changes enough key details to ruin what could have been a great story. The characters are bland stereotypes and mostly unlikable. The protagonist in particular was an entirely unnecessary addition and his lack of fear came off as arrogance rather than bravery. I found myself wanting them to die quicker rather than rooting for any of them to survive. The script is just plain silly. Most of what’s said does not relate to what’s happening on screen. It feels like they knew there had to be dialogue so they just made it up as they went. The movie is wholly predictable and at no point are you scared or shocked by what is happening. It felt more like a B grade action flick than a horror film. I’m a sucker for vampire movies but this was very disappointing.

{I watched the whole show, the five star reviewers apparently can’t handle that most people find this show unwatchable} I throughly enjoyed the first show and was excited to see a new art style and time period. I was dismayed to find very shallow characters- the protagonist is entirely emasculated and pitiful, shockingly boring fight scenes, inconsistent pacing, innumerable plot holes, tragic voice acting (singing) and overall abysmal writing. The socialist propaganda is extraordinarily abrasive and seems to be the purpose of the entire show. By the end of the season I felt like I was tricked into listening to a political lecture under the guise of calling it Castlevania. I’m not reviewing bombing, I never write show reviews, I’m literally just shocked and hurt by this atrocity.
