Couldn't agree more with the criticism of its wordiness. The characters are charming but the gobligook surrounding the story made it very challenging to keep going. We're there no editors in those days?

The premise of a neutron star and it's celestial neighbors hosting a low gravity habitable world is absolutely brilliant. The world building also very interesting. The story of the inhabitants and their struggles, not so much. I had a hard time slogging through the middle of the book.
