The show was bad. Really bad. Every episode made me angrier. And yes, I kept an open mind and watched all 8 episodes. For some reason, unoriginal writers and directors keep referencing clones in this series. Except “Welcome to Raccoon City”, which was the only one who got it right (sorry but changing Leon into a moron doesn’t invalidate an entire movie, says a Leon S Kennedy fan of over 20 years). Yes it combined two good stories into one script but if you think about it, the games (1, 2A and 2B) were each less than 1.5 hours long…and most of that was puzzle solving. Remove that, load screens and running back & forth, it tackled the main points, used the source material already provided and kept the atmosphere feeling tense, suspenseful and the viewer invested in whichever character was on screen. This Netflix garbage…I never felt a moment of dread for Jade. The secondary characters were obviously expendable and unrelatable. I always watched every scene waiting for it to end and a new one to begin. I don’t see how someone that makes this many bad decisions survived for 14 years in a post apocalyptic world, so the writing was worst than the acting. The enemies were only featured to complete a checklist…by including a zombie, a licker and referencing a tyrant, this must be considered resident evil? I am as disappointed with this sci-fi garbage as I was with Paul Anderson and his wife’s collectively desperate cash grab. RE WAS survival horror that became action horror which became action envisioned only in Michael Bays wettest of dreams before returning to its roots of survival horror…I imagine this return was for good reason. This show failed us. Netflix failed us. 0.5/10…and that credit belongs solely to Lance Reddick.
