Went in open minded and actually enjoyed the movie a bit until it became ridiculous, with the same things mentioned over and over again, it seemed more like something they would play at school to combat racism, kinda like a school play but just so repetitive and going nowhere. I know movies aren’t meant to be realistic but I honestly think the actors who are so well-known for comedy sold themselves short here. It covers a lot of sensitive topics so maybe that’s why it just feels so forced and awkward. Maybe it’s because I’m not from America, who knows. I guess I was expecting like a silly movie about cultural differences experienced in mixed relationships but it honestly felt like it was a film insinuating that white people should tip toe around people of colour. I feel like the African American stereotypes were so enforced that it did more harm than good.
That’s just me
