Spider-Man Far From Home is not the let down that sometimes happens with a sequel. Ultimately, the combination of a solid script and the believability that Tom Holland is Peter Parker makes this film worth going out to see in theaters (perhaps even twice). I will give Homecoming the slight edge because Michael Keaton’s role of the complex antagonist, Vulture, carried the film’s rising action and climax well. Keaton’s legit star power is noted in the scene where he threatens Peter while looking through the rear view mirror. Mysterio plays the villain in this second installment, but it’s Peter’s internal conflicts that propel the storyline. Of course, Samuel L Jackson, a polished pro, delivered some of the funniest, laugh out loud moments in the film.
If anyone from MARVEL is reading this post, here’s a pitch from one of your biggest fans. I don’t know the legality of the release of the characters from DAREDEVIL, but the actors from the NETFLIX series have the ability to leap to the big screen. I would love to see Karen Page help Peter with his new problem (as noted in the first secret scene). Her investigative skills and heart of gold could set up a sub conflict with JJJ and the two prominent news papers (would be a nice commentary on fake news). Also, I would love to see a return of the Kingpin and a match up of Peter and Daredevil in a third installment. How many viewers watched DAREDEVIL? Times that by $15 a ticket. Plus, Daredevil’s code not to kill would fit nicely in a PG13 picture. $$$
