One of the best books on war in general, and the Battle of Gettysburg in particular, ever written. I’ve been a Civil War buff all my life, and have read the likes of Douglas Southall Freeman, Robert S. Henry, Virgil Carrington Jones, and many, many others. Nothing matches this book in detail, in the side stories of lifelong friends and families who ended up on different sides, and in the relentless horror of the Civil War. The Killer Angels is a masterpiece. Any reader who would not appreciate it must have no real interest at all in the subject: the greatest battle ever fought in the New World.
