I have always been quite a fan of the black metal scene, and learnt all the fact of Mayhem a few years previous to watching this film. So, when it was released, I went in thinking it would be a watered down, mainstream take of the stories. But, with the amount of things that were correct, I was quite amazed at how it managed to get alot correct. From the intro scene, to the murder scene, a majority of it was quite simple and told the story in a way most people could follow, unlike the 100% truthful story. I would rate higher, but some of the casting choices were poor, like Pelle and Varg. Valter Skarsgård was a perfect choice for Faust, and vice versa with Rory Culkin. But, there was better choices for Pelle and Varg. It was also a good choice and decision to have Attila Csihar’s son to play Attila in the film.
Overall, I am quite pleased with the outcome, 4/5
