I give this series five stars because I want to encourage television drama of this nature. The TV series is popular for the same reason that the Joe Pickett novels are popular. They depict a married couple and a family where the love they have for each other affords them the strength to endure hardships. This theme is not common in today's entertainment. Also, I am not involved in making movies but it is obvious it is more challenging to shoot outdoors than indoors. What a pleasure it is to see beautiful natural backgrounds. I have read all the Pickett books, most twice, as well as most of the Longmire books. Both TV series were very watchable, and the Pickett series is closer to the author's characters than Longmire was. Yes, there were many inaccuracies in the ten episodes I have watched, but while good novelists are amazing researchers (C, J, Box and Craig Johnson among the best), film makers have different priorities like camera angles, etc. I am kind of embarrassed that I notice some of the foibles. In the last episode, for example, Wacey shoots out the electrical panel, but when Joe returns the next day, the lights are working. I wish my local electric company was that responsive!
