Arguably one of the greatest threats to the video game industry for consumers since it's a highly popular mainstream title and a benchmark for other companies to follow suit, if successful/profitable. Basically, Gran Turismo 7 was a social experiment designed for bait and switch.
Gran Turismo 7 sets a mainstream precedence to allow companies to change the game you paid for at the time of purchase to whatever it pleases without any option for the consumer to roll back.
And in Gran Turismo 7's case, their changes to the game was to make it more difficult for casual gamers to earn in-game currency pressuring them to purchase that currency or DLC with real money.
I will never buy another Gran Turismo title ever again; "buy" being the operative word. I will never support this kind of consumer practice and if others were smart, they would do the same- though I doubt it.
Consumer acceptance of DLC has made the industry go rampant with moving content that was once included in the game to DLC.
Gran Turismo 7's bait and switch is the next thing to catch on if consumers continue to support Gran Turismo 7 since companies know the tactic works. Bad reviews mean little to them as long as what they do reflects their profits in a positive way. I regret my Gran Turismo 7 purchase but now I know to never trust these liars with my money ever again. It's companies like theirs that make a great case for piracy. It's the modern day Robin Hood movement.
