This movie got such hype that I was intrigued. Each of the actors delivered solid performances and the cinematography was stunning. But the script? Not worth my time to watch it. The plot was not well developed. Why did Rose turn to drink when she was a teetotaler before marrying the rancher? We can assume why but please give us a bit of fodder for the assumption. What was the meaning of her giving away the hides? Why did successful ranchers put so much time and labor into curing hides only to burn them? So many holes in the plot. And what a tired theme…rugged cowboy is secretly gay. I feel duped by the hooplah of this movie. It was a waste of talent. And my time.
