I thought strangely terrible. A missed opportunity to show the real Mary Anning who actually lived in a moderately wealthy Regency town. Or about her work and history of how she came to connect with museum scientists. Etc etc. or the challenges this had to creationist theories. The emphasis on her lesbianism unsubstantiated but also where is that relevant? Because it’s the only way to explain how a woman could become a scientist? Tediously long irrelevant sex scenes. The main character played as a 2 dimensional lump. The main support boring and colourless. I could go on. Just awful.

No stars sorry. Oh I have to. I don’t give it the one I’m forced to give. Terrible. Embarrassing attempt at bringing modern psychology into the speech. Lack of tension between characters. Clumsy copy of Phoebe Waller Bridge technique. I can happily watch any slightly corny costume drama but this was too much for me to bear. I persevered in the hope it would recover a bit but if anything it got worse. Excruciating. Boring.
