FTA is a beautiful and authentic documentation of the Anti-War movement within the U.S. Military itself during the Vietnam War. The documentary follows The FTA Show, a star-studded Political Vaudeville performance of skits and singalongs in support of GIs protesting the Vietnam War, the content of which was taken straight from underground GI newspapers. The documentary does a wonderful job of framing the movement, touching on the intersections of many of the major liberation movements of the 60s and 70s while staying within the context of the film.
The FTA Show never saw the popularity it should have given the notoriety of its cast, but even nearly 40 years after its release, FTA promises an entertaining, heart-wrenching, and honest glance at the realities of war.
