My problem with the movie wasn't with the film itself, Marvel once again did an incredible job with the cinematic and animations, it was action packed but unlike other marvel movies the movie was almost horrifying. I am a big fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy and was so excited when I heard the new movie came out. I immediately went to see it when it came out but within the first 30-45 minutes was questioning wether or not I wanted to leave. (Spoilers Ahead) My problem with the movie was with the story line. In my opinion, Marvel ruined the Guardians of the Galaxy, even having them go their separate ways in the end. The central idea surrounding the movie was that Rocket was dying and the Guardians had to come together to save him (perfectly fine) this lead into scenes from Rockets past, giving the audience his backstory which was revealed more and more throughout the movie. The Idea behind this seems perfectly fine, but the way Marvel approached it was not. They showed extreme graphic torture of animals which was too much even for me, and then even the murder of them. They had animals that had been graphically torn apart and had spontaneous terrifying robotic replacements. Another issue with the movie that I had was with Gomora. Marvel decided to bring her back yet refused to give her her memory back, claiming she was a new person in the same body, causing Gamora to be heartless, not caring about her friends, or even Quil. They didnt have her rejoin the Guardians but had her as a part of the ravagers. Then at the end, having the guardians split up and leave each other to essentially help their mental health. Heartbreaking. Marvel ruined this for me.
