We are so familiar with flawless CGI characters that anything which looks even remotely off stands out like a sore thumb. Serkis is the master of motion capture. But it shouldn't give him free will to place his face on every cgi character in the movie. Balou could be Serkis in make up, it doesn't work. You are too distracted by the similarity to a human face on all the animals that you lose the plot or the narrative. Great cast so it sounds great, great CGI on everything, animal movement, environment,lighting etc. It's just the faces I can't watch it any longer.. It's as though it doesn't know what it wants to be either a a David Attenborough special or a Disney movie. Shame really
