As a weather nerd, the original Twister is one of my all-time favorite movies. When I heard that they were finally doing a remake, I kept my expectations very low. This movie blew those expectations out of the water.
It's dramatic, intense, fun, and well-acted, with a great soundtrack and a tightly written, clever (and often funny) script. Glenn Powell is Glenn Powell - almost unfairly charismatic and handsome, with a big-movie bravado that's impossible not to like. Daisy Edgar-Jones and him have great chemistry, and the supporting cast is great as well.
There are many scenes that clearly pay homage to the original, but the movie feels fresh and modern, with realistic meteorological terms used throughout. It feels very real. The tornado scenes and scenes of destruction are hold-your-breath intense, but there's also a great story here, with a budding romance that's cute but never eye-rolling. The human side of it is quite moving at times.
Summer movie blockbusters don't get much better than this. See it on the biggest screen you can!
