I really like JP3 and I've watched it many times. Its short run time breezes by and it's definitely the most action packed of the three movies. I also think it's better than The Lost World and any of the more recent Jurassic Park installments. The plot is pretty basic (we need to go save our kid!) and the dialogue is sophomoric at times. Sam Neil has some great one-liners, though ("It's a birdcage") and is as good in this role as ever. The dinosaurs are beautifully rendered, scary, and colorful, and the sound editing is top notch. When Spinosaurus first roars, the camera sort of blurs, and you can feel it in your body. It's an awesome moment that needs to be seen on a big screen & with a good sound system. It's missing the build up of tension that was so expertly done in the original Jurassic Park, and it's also missing the original's thematic moral elements of right vs. wrong, Ingen vs. mother nature. Still, it's a very fun time at the movies.

Bryan Cranston is so good in this show, so nuanced, so believable, so easily able to switch from desperate family man to merciless craftsman, that it makes you want to live his life, even though it might be one of the worst realities you can possibly imagine. This is a show that simply doesn't miss. The storytelling, character development, and acting are all top-notch, creating an aura of tension and feeling that's incredibly addicting. And the father-and-son-like partnership that slowly develops between Jesse and Walt is endearing and so, so well acted. Watch it.

As a weather nerd, the original Twister is one of my all-time favorite movies. When I heard that they were finally doing a remake, I kept my expectations very low. This movie blew those expectations out of the water. It's dramatic, intense, fun, and well-acted, with a great soundtrack and a tightly written, clever (and often funny) script. Glenn Powell is Glenn Powell - almost unfairly charismatic and handsome, with a big-movie bravado that's impossible not to like. Daisy Edgar-Jones and him have great chemistry, and the supporting cast is great as well. There are many scenes that clearly pay homage to the original, but the movie feels fresh and modern, with realistic meteorological terms used throughout. It feels very real. The tornado scenes and scenes of destruction are hold-your-breath intense, but there's also a great story here, with a budding romance that's cute but never eye-rolling. The human side of it is quite moving at times. Summer movie blockbusters don't get much better than this. See it on the biggest screen you can!

A tale of two movies. For the first 45 minutes or so, this is an exceptionally tense and creepy movie about a serial killer who preys young girls. It's expertly shot here, with scenes designed to have the viewer guessing what's going to happen in the background. There's a noticeable shift in tone and and in character focus about halfway through the movie that really lets it down. It basically becomes Anabelle, and I don't understand why they chose to go in that direction.
