Till 2000,showmen of bollywood ( Subhash Ghai , J P Dutta , Rajiv Rai ) whatever they produced it turned out to be blockbuster or money churner.But post 2000 it was unfortunate for them to remain as they were.

The reason why we as the audience are not able to accept khan's film of 2018 because of the believable fact that whenever these films were being made ,star power was in the mind and less emphasis was on the script part.But 2018 & 2017 saw the releases of the film like STREE BADHAI HO HICHKI ANDHADHUN SHUBH MANGALAM SAVDHAN BAREILLY KI BURFI changed the audience perspective.These were the films where audience got easily connected with .And remember these films were released quitely and garnered success with word of mouth publicity. Coming to ZERO ,first half of the film is like syllabus of subject is being covered by a visiting faculty and second half is like for the sake of completion of a film,a unbelievable twist is put in the script.FAULT LIES WITH THE SCRIPT NOT WITH THE ACTORS.EACH OF THE CHARACTER EXCEPT BAUAA SINGH AND HIS FRIEND ,IS INCOMPLETELY WRITTEN .
