This isn't your typical western but a much more realistic depiction of what kind of ordeals pilgrims faced as they tried to reach a new future. Many scenes are heartbreaking but also filled with hope. It is a powerful backstory to the founding of the Yellowstone and how the Duttons ended up in Montana. Life is harsh but as the narrator would say it's also beautiful!
