I'm in awe over the number of five star reviews. I'm a huge John Wick and Keanu fan. I was incredibly excited about this movie. We went on the special release before opening night. And by halfway through the movie, I was having to talk myself out of leaving early.
The fight scenes are masterfully choreographed. And about five times longer than a fight that lasts too long. In fact, the movie is almost nothing but three long fight scenes. There is barely any semblance of a plot. The entire budget went toward the choreography of the fight scenes. Yes, I know it's John Wick - but these fight scenes, though beautifully done, aren't realistic in the least. In the first three movies, surrounding the amazing (and much more realistic) fight scenes is a plot and character development.
Small spoiler: During the fight on the long stairs, when the scene had already gone on far longer than it should have, and then he fell back down and had to start over, I almost stood up and vomited a long string of profanities, I was so freaking irritated. By this point, I just needed the movie to be over.
The entire movie would have been more enjoyable if they had ended it after the first fight scene and we could have all gone home to cry over what should have just stayed a trilogy.
