I haven’t read this particular work by Jane Austin (sorry English majors 😬). I won’t judge it AS harshly without having read it. The movie was….okay? I felt that the movie would have had more depth if Anne successfully moved on from her past love interest, rather than wallowing in self-pity and having it magically work out in the end…or if a main character had died tbh. Way to be predictable and unrealistic 🤷♀️. I’d rather watch LALA Land, Titanic, The Notebook, or anything with a sense of TRUE romantic tragedy. I would also rather watch a Disney film, if the movie NEEDS to be unrealistically optimistic about relationships and hyper focused on one guy 🙄.
Also, just personal preference, I cannot stand when movies/shows make the main love interest LESS attractive than others in the movie/show. I had to look up the actor and realized that the obnoxious side burns and greasy hair (which at no point changed or improved through the movie) stole the show 😂. This guy isn’t even unattractive in real life, but the hair and makeup worked against any natural beauty he had. If they didn’t want me rooting for at least three other young men in the film or ANYONE who knew how to shave/comb their hair, they should have convinced me that the main guy was REALLY the best catch out there.
It’s Twilight all over again, except I actually DID read that book (don’t judge, I was a preteen 😜). I knew who she was going to marry, but did he HAVE to look so fake, but in a BAD way in the movie? I thought Team Jacob was ridiculous to anyone who had actually read the book, but who wouldn’t pick that team, solely based on the movie? 😂😂😂 Someone tell these movie people to work with what they’ve got instead of against it. 🤦♀️
