Bridge to Terabithia is a novel written by Katherin Peterson, it is a great movie that was made for teens and adults, it is very similar to Narnia and Home Sweet home except they don’t have a talking lion or a moving house. Even though BTT has some fantasy stuff, it is not fully a fantasy movie. BTT it’s run by two kids' imagination which is Jesse and Leslie, and in the movie it is shown that they use their imagination to escape reality.
I really enjoyed watching BTT and the plot twist the author put in. When I first saw this movie I thought to myself the plot and the ending must be the same as other teen romances, but it wasn’t. BTT was leaning towards the friendship between two kids , Jesse and Leslie.
In the movie it shows the way their friendship grew stronger and stronger and how they overcame all the challenges together, meanwhile the movie Home sweet home was about two houses travelling together one is a new house and one is old but the similar thing about this movie and BTT is that they shown the way they friendship grew, from stranger to friends, from friends to best of friends.
Personally I also like the plot, the camera angles and how they put so many plot twists for this movie, it’s also giving the feeling like you are connected to the movie as well, like when they use the rope to enter Terabithia the camera was up above and it shows the view which make you feel connect to it . After I finished watching this film it’s like I'm having an emotional rollercoaster, especially when the traumatic event happened out of nowhere at the end of the movie, I mean who would ever expect that.
Although BTT is a good movie, I don’t recommend it for kids because of the theme and mainly the message the author is trying to send. The movie is more aimed at teens, exploring love, family problems and dealing with some unexpected strategy. I will never forget the feeling when the traumatic event happened and this movie also reminds me of my girl.
When I watched this movie as a kid I thought it was really mean for the family to announce a traumatic event to Jesse like that, it severely beat and crushed my heart. Tears still flow down my face every time i watch that scene or just the movie in general. But now knowing more about emotion and understanding what it all meant, this movie still gave me a shock. Overall i rated this movie a 8 out of 10
