I have often contended that people need to strive to thrive. Providing basic needs are one thing. But platitudes of victimhood (it's not your fault) , discouraging competition (every game is a tie), and denying that some people are more skilled than others in some things (not grouping students by ability) hobbles people's determination and limits their dreams and possibilities. Clearly what we have been doing is not working. Time to try something else!
