I watched this against my better judgement, and the moral of the story is, go with your gut. Hardly a whodunnit given that all the characters were ultimately fingered and questioned, until the last person standing was by default the guilty character. Kidman's wig was a distraction as was Schreiber's grizzle and neck rolls. The swearing and weed smoking was an overused trope to show ... what? A decadent or edgy family? The storyline meandered around the place not knowing where to commit, much like the detectives in the story. Film makers, script writers and directors seem to have regressed. By now, surely a sophisticated, true-to-genre narrative with believable red herrings and clever twists should be well within reach? Sadly, it appears not.
