Some great road wars, but there were some serious plot holes. Not as tight as fury road. They really lay out all the details of the wasteland instead of letting you infer who's who and where things are. Hemsworth is playing Captain Jack Sparrow Lite, and Taylor-joy is too slight and wimpy and makes us miss Theron.

I love Baz Luhrmans movies generally, but this was just a bunch of montages with no character development. It whitewashes Elvis' story in order to present him as a pitiable angel. It portrays him as a revolutionary champion of Black people but he was actually very reticent to voice his support for civil rights publicly. Also he met and started grooming Priscilla when she was 14 (he was 24). The worst part is Tom Hanks' caricature of the Colonel. His performance is laughable and his accent is terrible. Someone aptly described it as "Kentucky Fried Goldmember"

Straightforward revenge epic lacks emotional range. Some plot holes in the Hero journey and mostly well-worn dialogue. There's an interesting perspective twist that fails to change hardheaded Amleth's worldview. More brawn than brains I guess. There's not nearly enough Willem Dafoe, although he's the movie's most entertaining character. Anya Taylor Joy gets to be awesome for 20 seconds at the end. Nicole Kidmans face is looking more like Ron Perlman's with every movie. There's one good fight scene, maybe two if you count the field hockey. I guess it's good for a bro date.
