The problem with the series is that it purports to be true. In important aspects, it isn't. The stalker, who has been identified on social media, did not go to prison. The alleged rapist has also been identified, and says it was consensual (yes, of course he would say that, but there was clearly a relationship which the victim allowed to continue). Mr Gadd is portrayed as the victim but in fact constantly and deliberately courts victimhood. His lack of comedic talent is probably true, as is his characters difficulty in accepting his own shortcomings. Overall a narcissistic delve into one man's self pity. Hopefully he will find the help he needs, ie a therapist and a good lawyer.
