I’m not saying this because I like Spider-Man more than the average person, A fanboy if you will, but I’m saying this because it’s true. Spider-Man across the spider verse is the greatest animated film, Spider-Man film, and overall film/series of all time. The animation is unlike anything you would ever see, there’s different frame rates for different characters, and different styles of art for all the different characters. They use color in amazing ways to display emotion, along with actual humans, making insane cameos, connecting everything you would ever love about the Spider-Man franchise. There is not a dull moment in the film where I would rather be doing something else or where I’m zoning off. You are engaged with the film the entire time, and it never drags, not once. Every single joke landed perfectly. The storytelling was absolutely incomparable. There’s so much I wanna say but I can’t. Words do not describe the experience, you just had to be there. The best part for me is knowing that I was there on opening night with a bunch of nerds like me. The audience reactions were absolutely amazing and fit exactly how me and my friends were reacting as well. The movie ends on a cliffhanger, and I’ve never heard an audience of people scream “NOOOO” at the exact same time so loudly before in my entire life, or anyone’s life for that matter. I know all of this is absolutely corny, but I may never experience anything like that ever again. I am not saying it was life-changing, I’m just saying it was the greatest movie ever created, and I hope the third movie, Spider-Man Beyond the Spiderverse, delivers just as well, or even better as the last two movies.
